However, Krejcikova showed exactly why she is a two-time Grand Slam champion. Refusing to hand over her title easily, the defending champion raised her level, mixed deep slices, and reeled off five consecutive games to snatch the second set 7-5, forcing a deciding third set.

Net Domination Seals the Last-Eight Spot

Faced with a roaring comeback, Karolina Muchova completely reset her focus for the decider. She utilized her excellent grass-court skills, approaching the net 31 times and winning 23 of those points. Muchova blasted an outstanding 50 winners across the two-hour and 45-minute battle while holding Krejcikova to just 24.

As Krejcikova struggled physically in the warm conditions, Muchova raced to a 4-1 lead and sealed the match 6-3 with a perfectly executed forehand lob. Muchova now advances to a blockbuster quarterfinal against Naomi Osaka.
