Does anyone remember the disposable film cameras that were so popular in the nineties? They were simply made cameras. It’s hard to think of anything more fundamental. Nevertheless, California’s Camp Snap Ltd succeeded. And not with a new analog camera, but with a digital one, specially designed for children.
The reason is easy to say: it is a point-and-shoot without any other setting option than the LED flash, which can be always on, always off, or automatically controlled. A camera that excels in what it lacks: there is no display. PUSH Camp Snapchat is the name of a compact digital camera, it only has a trigger and a Galilean optical viewfinder.
Without a monitor, the child remains “connected” only to reality
So the child cannot be disturbed by viewing the picture or other technical issues, given that the exposure is calculated automatically and there are no adjustment menus. A novice photographer will be able to focus on the scene he had the desire to immortalize stay connected with friends and become the center of action.

Camp Snap: easy, even though it’s digital
The compact is completely manufactured Made of drop-resistant plastic (has no internal mechanical parts), and has a vintage look with faux leather front lining. This is available in nine colors from yellow ocher to blue to red, pink, moderate black, or a very suitable forest green.
In the middle of the camera body is a lens, for which the official website does not provide any technical data. However, we found out that it is a medium wide angle with an f/3.5 aperture without an aperture and with a fixed focus set to hyperfocal (sufficient sharpness from approx. 1 meter to infinity).
The sensor has 8 megapixels and we don’t know much else on that front either, except that this resolution is more than adequate for A4 prints. Back houses a progressive click counter mini-speaker that reproduces the sound of the shutter with some emphasis (there is a firmware update to remove it) and a notch for the thumb.

No videos, thanks. And for connectivity, there is a modern USB-C
Although the exposure is automatically aperture is fixed, the time and sensitivity cannot be determined by the photographer, The quality from pictures seen online is amazing, with excellent color rendering in good lighting conditions and even more than decent in the interior. So although the camera is aimed at an audience that still has little imagination, the American digital compact could satisfy even seasoned minimalist street photographers.
Camp Snap records Only photos JPG (hence no video) and stores over 2000 in one form TF Micro SD in the device which is located on the back, in a compartment that can only be opened with a small screwdriver: it is therefore very difficult to lose the memory card and in addition USB-C connection.
Camp Snap: Why?
He designed the compact Brian and Melanie, a Canadian couple who, once she moved to California, sent her two children to summer camp in their homeland.
However, children who were given some disposable film compacts saw their ambitions as nature photographers frustrated due to the poor quality of analog compact cameras, which were also quite expensive to operate. When Brian and Melanie saw that no digital camera is complete without a monitor and other technically superfluous little things for a child, they came up with the idea of Camp Snap.
Camp Snap: how much it costs and where to buy it
The world’s simplest digital compact it costs €60.9 to which €10.95 must be added for shipping costs in Italy and can be purchased directly from the manufacturer’s website. You can choose a color here, but some are already sold out.
Whoever buys it now might not get to put Camp Snap under the tree, but they have a great chance of getting something useful delivered to Befana.
