Apple’s new app – The diary for iPhone helps you reflect and practice gratitude by keeping a journal, an activity that has been shown to improve well-being.
WITH Daily, everyone can record small and big events in their life, and enrich their memories with photos, videos, recorded audio, places, and more. The device’s machine learning offers personalized, private writing support suggestions and customizable alerts to help people develop their writing habits.
With a journal, it’s easy to start writing simple text or include additional details such as photos, videos, locations, or recorded audio for context.
Adding content like a message, song or podcast from other apps is just as easy, just drag it into the Journal app and write about it. The user can browse past notes, bookmark them, or filter them by details such as photos, exercises, locations, and more.
Smartly selected personalized suggestions are designed to help you remember and write about moments like new places visited, photos taken, songs listened to, workouts completed, and more. They are based on each person’s activity and include writing prompts to help you jot down useful information, while daily reflection prompts help you focus on gratitude, kindness, goals, and more. Simply check the type of content that appears in Suggestions and write text with your selected suggestions. Developers can also use the new Journaling Suggestions API to add writing suggestions to their apps, offering people moments to write about while fully respecting privacy, so more and more people can benefit from the app’s usefulness for newborns.
“The Diary app is an exciting step forward for us as it brings the benefits of the diary experience to an even wider audience and opens a new chapter for the practice,” explained Paul Mayne, creator of the Day One app. The diary was developed with privacy in mind first. When the iPhone is locked with a passcode, the content of the Journal app is encrypted. In addition, you can choose to enable second verification and lock the app with your device’s security code or with Touch ID or Face ID. It is important to know that all contents in Diary are protected by end-to-end encryption when stored on iCloud, so only the owner can access them. Finally, it should be emphasized that proposals for the journal are processed locally; the person chooses which of the suggested moments they want to share with the Diary application and add to the content of their Diary.
“Journal makes it easy to preserve memories and practice gratitude by intelligently organizing your information right from your iPhone,” said Apple’s Bob Borchers.
