Madueke Shines as Chelsea Share the Points with Forest in the Premier League 2024-25

Explore the highlights of Chelsea’s match against Forest, where Madueke shone brightly, ensuring both teams shared the points in the Premier League 2024-25.

Introduction:

Chelsea began the match with a specific game plan to dominate the match from the off, rolling out in a 4-2-3-1 pattern against Nottingham Forest. Both full-backs, Malo Gusto and Marc Cucurella, were keen to move up the pitch to join their side’s attack to achieve a 2-3-4-1 pattern when Chelsea played. This gave Chelsea the initiative for most of the early going, but they only drew 1-1 in a tight-match contest at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea on the Front Foot

Chelsea was in command in the first minutes. One of the Blues most wayward players of the day, Noni Madueke created the first opening when he cut in inside his full-back and dragged a shot wide of the post. Forest, though, rapidly grew into the game, with Callum Hudson-Odoi delivering a dangerous cross for Ryan Yates, whose header was saved by Robert Sanchez.

Yet, Forest was unable to convert their opportunities and Chelsea had the better possession in the first half with nearly two-thirds of it.

Malo Gusto had a shot blocked while Madueke remained a pest to Forest as his next effort sailed over the top of the bar following cut-in from the wing. A really impressive Brazilian centre back, Murillo, stood at the helm of Forest’s backline which proved very solid against Chelsea’s relentless attacks. He went forward and made Sanchez save from a 20-yard drive, as well as winning important tackles.

The match could have swung Chelsea’s way on the stroke of half-time when Madueke drove into the box and pulled the ball back for Cole Palmer, but Forest’s Ola Aina produced a magnificent touch that sent the ball walking out onto the woodwork, where it transversed the line, but goal-line technology decreed it hadn’t quite fully crossed over.

At the other end, Levi Colwill produced an important block to deny Yates, who seemed ready to give Forest the lead. The half ended 0-0, thanks to outstanding defending on both sides.

Forest Take the Lead, Chelsea Hit Back

Deep into first-half stoppage time, they were given a penalty by VAR, which Stuart Dallas converted for the home side, who led at the break. Just minutes into the second half, Forest took the shock lead. A deep free-kick was headed back by Nicola Milenkovic into the box and Chris Wood slid in there to poke the ball into the far bottom corner, giving the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Chelsea responded with renewed energy. Madueke’s persistence on the right wing finally came good when he cut inside on his left to fire a low shot to the far corner and levelled the score at 1-1. He had an opportunity to increase the lead seconds later, but his first-time effort from 12 yards sailed over the top.

Chelsea kept its rhythm going, and Nicolas Jackson was in a good position after gaining possession of the ball from Murillo, but he could have easily shot for it instead of passing and thus squandered the chance. A threatening Gusto cross minutes later went over the bar as Chelsea continued their thrusting effort.

Red Card and Late Drama

But his hopes of taking anything from the game were then dented further as James Ward-Prowse handballed, collecting his second yellow of the evening, and Forest were left with ten men for the final 12 minutes of normal time. With Morgan Gibbs-White and Matz Sels going off for treatment within the half, six minutes were then added on at the end.

Chelsea threw everything at the rival and Joao Felix headed wide close but in no way close enough to beat the goal. Just then, what looked like an impossible run for Mykhailo Mudryk from one end of the park to the other was completed. He crossed for Christopher Nkunku with a cross, but Forest goalkeeper made a fantastic save.

Even Forest managed to have their chances in the dying minutes with Neco Williams and Jota both forcing crucial saves from Sanchez. It remained deadlocked, with neither side breaking the deadlock as time went by to 1-1.
