In the dazzling world of musicals, one name is emerging as a rising star, captivating audiences with his talent and passion. Meet Marco Di Nunno, a singer and actor hailing from Bitonto, born in ’94, whose journey from the school desks of ITC Vitale Giordano to the illustrious stage of Rome’s Teatro Sistina is nothing short of a dream come true.
Marco’s story unfolds in the last decade when his journey into the world of performing arts began amidst the school desks of ITC Vitale Giordano. Selected for end-of-year shows, Marco’s determination and undeniable passion for the arts started to shine through. After graduation, Marco enrolled at the University of Bari, but the flame of his artistic aspirations burned brighter. Fueled by a desire to study singing, acting, and dancing, he made the bold decision to leave the faculty of psychology and embarked on a journey of artistic exploration.
His quest for artistic excellence led him to study in Rome and Brindisi and culminated in his graduation from SDM, the School of Musical in Milan. This period marked a phase of sacrifices and satisfactions, filled with numerous auditions and culminating in a significant breakthrough – a coveted role in the musical “My Fair Lady.”
“I was selected after several tests. There were about 300 of us at the first audition. I danced, sang, and was selected for the ensemble,” recalls Marco. The subsequent weeks involved intense preparations, with the ensemble fine-tuning choreography and choral compositions at the Parco della Musica in Rome. Rehearsals in October paved the way for the grand stage debut on November 3rd at the historic Sistina Theatre.
Working alongside accomplished artists like Serena Autieri, Ivan Castiglione, and Fioretta Mari, Marco found himself immersed in an empowering experience. “Especially with Serena, because you get to know how this job is done. They are people who put themselves at the service of the scene and their colleagues and always create a positive climate,” Marco expresses. Describing Serena Autieri as a humble, joyful, and bright individual, Marco emphasizes the positive energy that permeates the entire ensemble.
Within the production, Marco takes on two pivotal roles – that of a street proletarian, a close friend of the protagonist, and the role of a servant in Higgins’ house. These roles showcase Marco’s versatility and dedication to his craft, contributing to the overall richness of the musical.
As Marco Di Nunno continues to make his mark on the theatrical landscape, his journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring artists. From the classrooms of Bitonto to the prestigious stage of Teatro Sistina, Marco’s story underscores the power of determination, passion, and the unwavering pursuit of artistic excellence. As the curtain rises on Marco’s burgeoning career, audiences can anticipate witnessing the continued ascent of this promising star in the world of musical theater.
