What the survey says

Just a few years ago, skiing could be considered a popular sport, more or less accessible to all budgets. Unfortunately, things have changed over time and this year it seems to have reached such a high peak that we can start to think about it luxury activity, reserved only for a privileged few. The reasons for all this are to be found in the rising costs, which have created a real economic barrier.

What has just been said is supported by an investigation by Altroconsumo which shows prices for a week on skis during the Christmas holidays. It reveals to us more expensive destinations and those where you can save even if only in speech.

The study shows that during the holidays, more precisely from December 30 to January 6 you spend on average from 1,500 euros to more than 4,500 euros.

The most expensive location

According to this analysis, the most expensive place in Italy to put on your skis and ski down dizzying slopes is Cortina d’Ampezzo, a famous and charming town located in the heart of the Venetian Dolomites, where a ski week for two people in the above period costs an average of 4,566 euros.

It’s not the first time that Cortina has topped the list of the most expensive destinations to ski, as it did so last year, but the problem is that it would be even more unaffordable this winter due to a 46% increase in accommodation costs.

The overall price is mainly influenced by the ski pass, which allows access to places so magical that they seem fake, but require an investment. 74 euros each for a day of skiing.

For this reason, Altroconsumo analyzed the prices of daily ski passes in 29 different locations and highlighted that in ten of them, the costs are around 70 euros and more. A price that according to a global survey conducted by a Swiss site glance, is surpassed by that for Alpe di Siusi. The good news, however, is that there are still places here where you can spend less.
