Everyone is better at Christmas. Not at Windsor Court, where the war continues between the Princes of Wales on one side and the Sussexes on the other. A clash that also materialized through Christmas cards, the traditional Christmas cards that royal families make for the holidays to thank relatives, friends, associations, organizations, and entities for various reasons.
William and Kate: an informal, black-and-white family
To conclude their first full year as Prince and Princess of Wales, William AND Kate they opted for an image reminiscent of the royal portraits taken by Lord Snowdon in the early 1990s.
The black-and-white picture, taken by photographer Josh Sinner, shows the two smiling alongside their three children: George, 10, Charlotte, 8, and Louis, 5.

The five are posing, the little princess is sitting on a leather chair surrounded by her brothers and with her parents behind her. The clothes are remarkable, everything is coordinated. Adults and children wear elegant white shirts and black sneakers, princesses in jeans, and princes in all-black trousers.
A photo that drew some criticism due to the “severed” finger. Looking at Louis’ hand, we see the prince without his middle finger, perhaps because it was simply hidden under the hand, or perhaps due to Photoshop abuse.
Apart from the mistake, however, one cannot fail to notice the royal family’s efforts to modernize the image of the monarchy by presenting the future king – or rather both future kings – and the future queen in a modern way.

Meghan and Harry without Archie and Lilibet
The Dukes of Sussex responded to their brothers-in-law’s Christmas wishes with a different picture. A photo that shows the two, happy and smiling, as well as very graceful, at the latest edition of the Invictus Games, scheduled for last September in Germany.

The couple opted for an eco-friendly virtual greeting card, sent on behalf of their organization Archewell. It is no coincidence that Meghan’s background and dress are green, the color par excellence associated with nature.
The text accompanying the photo reads: “We wish you a Merry Christmas. Thanks for all your support in 2023!†Below is a link to a video summarizing everything they have done with their Archewell Foundation over the past twelve months.
