The Department for Education and Merit has today published an expression of interest to expand the Wellbeing Plan for school and MIM staff to include new sectors and operators and provide additional benefits and services. In particular, banks, financial intermediaries and other entities authorized to grant loans in Italy will be involved in order to obtain, among other things, benefits and services under favorable conditions for the provision of mortgages for the purchase of housing, personal loans, and other banking services.
The decision, which comes after taking into account the extremely reassuring data of the experimental welfare plan launched in October 2023, aimed at an audience of approximately 1 million and 200 thousand workers who work in and for schools (teachers, educators, school directors, administration, technical and support staff and staff on duty in the Ministry), signed with some major economic operators, including Coldiretti, Trenitalia, Italo, Ita Airways and Rome Fiumicino and Ciampino airports.
The latter, each in their sector, have recognized concessions for the purchase of goods and services with discounts of up to 30% compared to market rates. Based on the data collected so far, it was possible to verify the positive impact of the proposed measures, when there were 242 thousand entrances to the section reserved for concessions; therefore, MIM shared with the aforementioned economic entities the desire to renew the existing agreements for 2024, which are currently in the signature phase.
“In October – declares Giuseppe Valditara, Minister of Education and Merit – we promised to extend the Welfare Plan to other private entities and guarantee all school and MIM workers even more services and benefits about all the main items of expenditure of Italian families. Today we can say that we have followed up on this commitment: by focusing on a strong synergy between public institutions and economic entities, we want to recognize the right and specific attention to those who work for the future and growth of young people. This is what we mean by ‘school alliances’.
